HS students! Enter the Sakura Medal Art Competition!

The library is looking for art submissions for the Sakura Medal Art Competition.
If you would like to enter please speak to your art teacher, or deliver your artwork as a hi res image (at least 1 MB) via email directly to Mrs. Hayakawa by April 9th.  We will choose six pieces to represent ASIJ. These pieces will then be voted on by all the schools participating in the Sakura Medal. The winning artwork will be sent to the author who wins the medal.
Artists who participate get a vote in the art competition and an invitation to the HS Sakura Medal Voting Party at the end of April.

Author Visit!
Chris Crutcher will be our author in residence from November 13-17. He will be working in both the MS and the HS, conducting writing workshops, addressing large groups of students, and having lunch with the HS book club.

Order Books for Naomi Shihab Nye Book Signing By December 1st!

Read Nye SmallThe week of January 25-29, ASIJ has the honor of hosting the internationally recognized and award-winning poet, Naomi Shihab Nye. Students will have the opportunity to work with Ms. Nye in both large and small groups throughout the week of her visit.

An exciting tradition, that always accompanies an author’s visit, is a book signing by the author. We would like to provide you with the opportunity to order books written by Naomi Shihab Nye. Ms. Nye will sign purchased books during her visit.

If you are interested, please print and complete this form, indicating the book titles and number of copies you would like to order. Please send the amount due in a sealed envelope. Clearly mark the envelope “Library Book Order” and have your student deliver it to the HS Library by Tuesday, December 1, 2015.
